Dr. Henshaw is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the State of Florida with over 38 years of experience in working with individuals with substance use, drug addiction, alcohol dependency problems, and mental health issues. Dr. Henshaw has worked in substance use, addiction, and mental health outpatient, residential, and inpatient programs in Massachusetts, Illinois, and Florida. Dr. Henshaw also has over eighteen years of providing Telehealth or online counseling sessions to our community and globally. Dr. Henshaw received his Human Development and Counseling doctoral degree from Boston University.
Dr. Henshaw believes that having a positive self-image and good self-esteem is essential for anyone who wants to experience a healthy and happy life. Dr. Henshaw also believes that the true and only solution to drug addiction, alcohol dependency, and substance use problems, as well as most mental health issues, is for a person to learn how to develop or create a positive self-image and good self-esteem. The key to this transformation is to be discovered in changing your thinking, especially about your value and worth as a human being.
When you learn to think differently and especially about yourself, when you know how to think positively about yourself and others and stop all negativity towards yourself and others, you will begin to authentically love yourself as you are now in the present moment. As a result of this inner transformation, you will not engage in self-destructive behaviors, including using drugs and alcohol, that endanger your well-being and existence. Dr. Henshaw will help you learn how to transform your negative thinking about yourself, others, and life to that which is positive so that you can come to authentically love yourself.

While I am a licensed mental health counselor in the State of Florida, my counseling services are holistic and non-traditional. I do not offer traditional counseling, therapy, or psychotherapy for those with mental health or substance use problems. My counseling practice is devoted to providing an alternative method of assisting those suffering from mental health and substance use issues. The alternative approach that I provide is holistic and is focused exclusively on helping individuals learn how to develop a positive self-image and good self-esteem by utilizing the work of Louise Hay. The purpose of my counseling service is to assist individuals in learning how to love themselves authentically and, as a result, find a resolution to their issues or problems. In addition, I do not accept insurance for my counseling service or keep charts on those I work with. If you want a traditional therapist, you must look elsewhere, as I do not provide that service.
